Travel Journal Workshop
Travel allows us to not only experience new places, but to stretch and grow as individuals. Writing and drawing are beautiful ways to capture a trip, whether during the daily train commute or mid-flight over the Alps.
This 3.5 hour workshop teaches bookbinding techniques that will enable you to make a series of books for your journey. The first half of class is devoted to making a boxed set of four books, so that you may carry a small notebook at all times. During the second half of the class, you will create a larger multi- section book. The expansive structure allows room for mementos, from plane tickets to photographs.
This class teaches an extremely versatile bookbinding structure that can be used to create many types of books, from a basic book to an elaborate multi-section journal. Learning this structure is a great first step into the world of bookbinding.
I believe in the importance of putting pen to paper and recording our adventures. This class is a way for each individual to create a physical memory for their journey.
Time: 3.5 hrs
Cost: $75 per person, all materials and tools provided
Capacity: Minimum of 4 students, no more than 10

Accordion Photo Album Workshop
Photographing an important family moment is powerfully emotional. Should sharing the memory be anything less? Even the most ardent digital photographer can appreciate the value of a printed picture. An album made with your own hands will both preserve and present those memories in an intimate, meaningful way.
In this class, you will be taught all about making accordion structure books. You will make both a hardcover and a softcover version.
Accordion bindings are a great way to introduce yourself to bookbinding. The structure creates an expansive, playful canvas that makes a great display item for your mantel or as your table’s centerpiece.
Time: 2.5 hrs
Cost: $75 per person, all materials and tools provided
Capacity: Minimum of 4 students, no more than 10
Age requirement: 16 and up

Poetry & Writing Journal Workshop
The act of journal writing gives us perspective into our own lives now and for years to come. Learn to make a unique journal to store your thoughts. This lightweight journal is a great place to write down your favorite quotes, important thoughts, and brave insights. When life is too busy, these become invaluable sources of energy and emotional clarity.
This 2 hour class focuses on a single, beginner-level binding technique. This structure is a bit more difficult than those found in my other classes, but is still achievable for patient and excited beginners.
Time: 2 hrs
Cost: $40 per person, all materials and tools provided
Capacity: Minimum of 4 students, no more than 12
Age requirement: 16 and up
Takeaway: Your own handmade journal

Landscape Sketchbook Workshop
The Earth’s expanse and diversity provide us with countless compositions, and artists have sketched their surroundings for thousands of years. The act of drawing connects us to nature with unparalleled intimacy. Bold mark-making can translate nature’s most furious storm, while a gentle brushstroke may capture it’s potential for peaceful calm.
This workshop teaches a few basic bookbinding techniques, enabling you to create your own landscape sketchbook in under an hour. The structure of this book allows it to lay completely flat, creating a wide drawing surface – perfect for capturing broad horizons, great plains, and distant trees.
Although this works well as a traditional workshop, it can also function as a “drop in” class during an art festival or community event. It usually takes between 1/2 hour to 1 hour for a student to complete a book.
